Thirty-three-year-old man sentenced to hang

Thirty-three-year-old Travis Polo has been sentenced to hang for the murder of 21-year-old Jamal Bernard which occurred in April 2008.

Polo was found guilty of the murder of Bernard by a 12-member jury in the Port of Spain High Court on January 14th.

Justice Devendra Rampersad imposed the death sentence. Bernard, of Olton Road, Gonzales, was shot and killed close to his home on April 20th 2008.

Polo was subsequently charged in connection with the murder.

The complainant in the State’s case was Cpl Stanley Romeo of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 1.
