Two teenagers were arrested and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in St. Augustine yesterday.
According to police reports, Sgt. Ian Liverpool, Cpl (Ag) Diamond and a party of officers from the Northern Division’s Crime Scene Unit and Canine Unit, acting on information, proceeded to St. John’s Road, St. Augustine, where they observed two young males standing near a parlour.
Upon seeing the officers, the suspects ran off.
The officers gave chase and observed one of the suspects throw an object on the ground.
Officers searched the area where the object was thrown and discovered a black Taurus pistol, loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition.
The suspects, a 17-year-old of Tunapuna and a 15-year-old of St. Augustine were arrested in connection with the find.
