A man identified only by his alias was found dead in Arouca on Tuesday morning.
The man’s body bore several gunshot wounds to the head.
According to a police report, at about 1.30 am, residents at Yorke Street, Arouca, heard voices quarrelling on the roadway over a cigarette, and then heard several gunshots.
A prominent civil lawyer and three other persons have been detained for questioning of the trafficking of persons in the ongoing investigation into Transformed Life Ministries in Arouca in which 69 people were rescued from cages in October this year following an intensive Guardian Media investigation.
Senior police sources told Guardian Media that the attorney was picked up in the wee hours of this morning by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) in an operation coordinated by Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith and headed by Sgt Mark Hernandez of SORT.
A 35-year-old man from St Joseph was killed during an argument while at a bar in St Augustine on Friday morning.
According to police, at about 4 am, Joel Collier was at Bamboo's Bar, College Road in St Augustine, when he got into an argument with another man.
Eyewitnesses told police that Collier walked away from the argument, however, the man he was arguing with whipped out a gun and shot him several times killing him on the scene.
On Sunday night, in an unrelated incident, one man was left dead and two others wounded during a shooting incident in Arouca.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has moved to shut down a bikini party advertised to be held on an HDC compound in Arouca on Sunday.
Party officials of this weekend’s “Hula Cooler Bikini Splash” are now forced to have the party moved to another venue as a cease notice has been served on the ones believed to be behind the La Vie venue.
The T&T Police Service has been notified of a highly advertised “Hula Cooler, Bikini Splash” event carded to take place this Sunday on a parcel of land owned by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
Efforts are now being made to pull the plug on this event and it is expected that officials from the HDC's security department will be serving a cease notice to its party promoter.
Guardian Media understands that the unauthorised event, is being planned on illegal structures at HDC's reserve land, near Bon Air Gardens in Arouca.
Senior police investigators tasked with investigating the activities at the Transformed Life Ministry Rehabilitation Centre say they will now be looking into fresh allegations of abuse at the facility.
This after one of four persons previously housed there, who were not part of the group resuced last week, claimed that during his two-year stay he was abused by several people.
Investigators say this and other allegations made by several other people once housed there will be “thoroughly investigated.”
Church services resumed on Saturday at the Transformed Life Ministry, Eastern Main Road in Arouca and the attendance was described as “the usual.”
The Pastor, Glen Awong, was also said to be “doing well.”
A man has been shot and killed in Arouca.
Details are still coming to hand, however CNC3 news understands that the victim, who went by the alias "Patch", was accosted by an armed assailant at a house in Windy Hill this morning.
Residents reported hearing several loud explosions.
On checking, the man's lifeless body was discovered lying in a pool of blood.
Investigations are ongoing.
