Five held for DUI on Sunday night

Five people were held for driving under the influence on Sunday, in the Port of Spain division, during a breathalyser police exercise.

According to police reports, the five persons are between the ages of 30 and 65 years, and include a judicial records officer and a furniture store manager,

The police exercise took place between 8.30 pm on Sunday and 1 am on Monday, along Wrightson Road and the Lady Young Road in Morvant, simultaneously.

The exercise was co-ordinated by Senior Superintendent Ramdeen, Superintendent Rampath, Superintendent Simon and ASP Sooker.

Car stealing ring breakthrough as 3 arrested

A Chinese national was among three persons detained in connection with a mall, car-stealing ring.

Police said they believe that the arrests come as a major breakthrough in their investigations into vehicles being stolen from several car parks at various malls in North Trinidad.

According to a police report, at about 1 pm on Wednesday, police officers received intelligence about a stolen vehicle being housed at the Lady Young Road, Morvant.

Man charged for wounding granted bail

A man from Morvant, who was charged for wounding, was granted bail in the sum of $275,000 with surety.

29-year-old Sayyed Ali, of #01 Chrysanthemum Road, Coconut Drive, was charged with several offences: wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; possession of a firearm; possession of ammunition; possession of a firearm to endanger life; and possession of ammunition to endanger life.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on January 5, where a 24-year-old man was shot in the back while at Unity Lane in Carapo.

Two wounded following gun play

Two men were shot and wounded on Thursday morning in Morvant.
According to a police report, shortly after midnight on Thursday, residents of the area heard several gunshots.
The police officers, who were called to the scene, found both wounded men bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds about their respective bodies.
The men were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where they were treated and warded in serious conditions.
Investigations are continuing. 

Murder in Morvant

Police are investigating a murder in Morvant Thursday evening.

Reports indicate that around 5 pm, 57-year-old Curtis Valentine Serrette, also known as Papa, of Paradise Heights, Morvant, was at Club Exclusive along Lady Young Avenue, Morvant, when an armed man entered the premises.

The gunman attempted to force a female patron into a room at gunpoint when Serrette intervened and was shot multiple times by the assailant who then fled the scene.

Serrete was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex but he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Morvant man reported missing

The Police Service is seeking the assistance of the public in locating 21-year-old Shaquille Park.

Park, of Second Caledonia, Morvant, was last seen at his home, around 6:30 am on Monday 3rd September, 2018.

He was reported missing to the Sangre Grande Police Station, on Tuesday 18th September, 2018, by his mother, Anna Park.

Park is of African descent, slim built, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a brown complexion and short black hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue ¾ pants and grey vest.

Murder in Morvant

Police are investigating a murder in Morvant.

The dead man has been identified as Atiba Joseph.

According to initial reports, Joseph was working on a box drain at Cipriani Avenue, Second Caledonia at around 1:30 pm, when he was shot.

He collapsed and fell down a precipice along the roadway.

Crime Scene Investigators are still on the location of the murder.

Morvant man to appear in court charged with murder

Hassam Mohammed, 36, of Never Dirty Road Morvant is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today charged with the murder of Randy Woods and Nathaniel Cravador.

According to police reports the victims; 30-year-old Randy Woods aka ‘Ashes’ and ‘Fifty’, and 18-year-old Nathaniel Cravador aka ‘Baba’, both of Never Dirty Road, Morvant, were found lying in the roadway along Gerbera Avenue, Coconut Drive, Morvant, around 12:20 pm September 20th with multiple gunshot wounds about the body.
