Guyana CJ rules recount must be done in Region Four

Guyana's Chief Jus­tice Rox­ane George has ruled that the Re­turn­ing Of­fi­cer for the coun­try’s largest elec­toral dis­trict, Dis­trict Four, breached the law in the adding up of State­ments of Poll dur­ing last week's gen­er­al elec­tions and should re­turn to the process, ei­ther afresh or from where they left off.

PNM wishes Young speedy recovery

The Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) has wished Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young a speedy re­cov­ery from a fall he suf­fered at the open­ing of the Pe­nal Fire Sta­tion ear­li­er to­day.

The PNM said in a state­ment, "We are con­fi­dent that the health care he is re­ceiv­ing is ex­cel­lent, and we hope that his in­juries are tem­po­rary, and his pain, tol­er­a­ble. The PNM lifts Min­is­ter Young in our prayers and we are con­fi­dent that all de­cent cit­i­zens of our na­tion will join us in pray­ing for him."

Young treated for dislocated shoulder, discharged

Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young has is­sued a state­ment say­ing that he is fine, fol­low­ing a fall at the open­ing of the Pe­nal Fire Sta­tion Tues­day morn­ing.

Min­is­ter Young is­sued the fol­low­ing state­ment around 3pm Tues­day:

"I would like to thank all well wish­ers and per­sons en­quir­ing as to my well be­ing. I am fine.

Sinanan: No new extensions on demerit point system

Works and Trans­port Min­is­ter Ro­han Sinanan says there will be no fur­ther ex­ten­sion in the roll out of the de­mer­it point sys­tem in this coun­try.

The sys­tem was sup­posed to take ef­fect on March 2, how­ev­er, it was an­nounced that the procla­ma­tion would in­stead take place one month lat­er, April 2nd.

Finance Minister: No fake $100 bills circulating

Fi­nance Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert has de­nied that fake poly­mer $100 notes are in cir­cu­la­tion.

Re­spond­ing to ques­tions posed by Cou­va South Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment Rudranath In­dars­ingh on two re­ports of coun­ter­feit bills be­ing passed off as re­al bills in Par­lia­ment yes­ter­day, Im­bert said he spoke to the head of the Bankers As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go (BATT), Karen Dar­basie.

Im­bert said Dar­basie told him there were no fake notes in cir­cu­la­tion.

Paul Richards wants sanctions on systems used for prisoner transport

Sanc­tions should be placed on the com­pa­ny or sys­tem be­ing used for pris­on­er trans­port if it is found that many of the il­le­gal trans­mis­sions au­thor­i­ties seek to in­ter­cept from pris­on­ers em­anate from in­side those trans­port ve­hi­cles, says In­de­pen­dent Sen­a­tor Paul Richards.
