FIFA appoints normalization committee, disbands TTFA

The T&T Football Association has been disbanded as football’s world governing body FIFA has appointed a normalization committee to run the daily affairs of football in this country.

A FIFA statement read on Tuesday, “The decision follows the recent FIFA/Concacaf fact-finding mission to Trinidad and Tobago to assess, together with an independent auditor, the financial situation of TTFA.

Brent Sancho: New national coach named soon

Former T&T Footballer Brent Sancho says a new head coach for the national men’s football team could be named before the new year...

Speaking on The Morning Brew today, Brent Sancho told us Dennis Lawrence served his country well, both as a national player, as well as a coach, but the TTFA board felt it had no choice but to let him go.

The decision to fire Dennis Lawrence was taken at yesterday’s meeting of the TTFA board.

However, Brent Sancho did admit that his former team-mate did not have all the ideal conditions to work under, as head coach.

Jack Warner sues TTFA

Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner has sued the T&T Football Association (TTFA) over almost $16 million in loans he claims he provided while at the helm of the organisation. 

In the lawsuit, filed in the Port-of-Spain High Court, on Monday, Warner is alleging that the organisation had failed to repay the loans despite acknowledging them several times in the past. 

According to his court filings, which were obtained by Guardian Media, Warner claiming that he provided the loans, totalling $15,761,003, over a period of approximately 15 years.

TTFA’s Home of Football nears completion

The T&T Football Association’s (TTFA) “Home of Football” project is progressing well with training fields near completion in Couva.

In August 2017, the Government of T&T approved a long-awaited request, when it granted 7.64 hectors of land to the TTFA in order to establish a home for football.
